Pure and Applied Chemistry

Pure and Applied ChemistryPure and Applied Chemistry are two related fields of study in Chemistry. A pure Chemist is one who teaches and researches about the properties and reactions of pure chemical compounds, while an Applied Chemist is one who examines such compound in laboratory situations and has to then determine the most suitable mode of application for the application. There are very few such people in the world today. One has to have knowledge of the three main elements: boron, fluorine and chlorine. Pure and Applied Chemistry deal with all other relevant chemical compounds, but these three elements are the basis of most of the work in that field. The lab of a pure Chemist is hectic. He has to determine if a given compound is active, if it is toxic or if it would be harmful for human beings or animals. A Pure Chemist also has to decide if the compound has enough effects to offer in a solution, or if it would produce unwanted reactions in a battery.Pure and Applied Chemistry i s a research-based laboratory, which gives the most sensible research of chemical elements and their reactions. Pure and Applied Chemistry can only offer a maximum of knowledge and understanding to a pure Chemist, and can give a minimum of knowledge to a Pure and Applied Chemist.A Pure Chemist has to calculate the probable use of a compound for both industrial and domestic usage. A Pure Chemist can only present a variety of solutions for a given compound, so that the best applications can be made of it. Such compound cannot be used in a wide range of applications; hence the use of a test report must be done before the compound is applied. Pure and Applied Chemistry is never complete without a Pure Chemist. It is mostly the role of the Pure Chemist to help the Pure and Applied Chemists come up with the best possible solutions for each compound.Pure and Applied Chemistry is the only branch of Chemistry, which deals with the atoms of a molecule itself. It provides a lot of mathematical certainty for a given compound, which makes its application simple and straight forward.Pure and Applied Chemistry are one of the branches of Chemistry, which has the most delicate and specific duties. Chemistry cannot be concerned with chemical reactions alone, but also has to be concerned with such as are environmental reactions. Pure and Applied Chemistry is therefore a vital part of chemistry as it affects both the theoretical and practical side of the subject.Pure and Applied Chemistry is the safest and most logical way of studying and learning chemistry. While pure Chemists usually take advanced degrees, Pure and Applied Chemists usually only take first-year courses and are basically much less specialized than Pure Chemists.

The Growth of Online Tutoring

The Growth of Online Tutoring One of the fastest-growing areas of AJ Tutoring’s services is online tutoring. As the director of online tutoring, I hear all kinds of questions about online tutoringâ€"this post will answer a couple of them! There are two broad categories of questions. First, how can online tutoring match in person tutoring? Second, what makes AJ Tutoring better than larger online tutoring companies?  Creating an Online Space to Match our In-Person EnvironmentAJ Tutoring has always been known for a commitment to qualityâ€"we’d rather not do something, than do it poorly. So, as more and more parents asked for online tutoring, we wanted to make sure we could deliver a quality service. There are three basic parts of making sure our online students get a great experience comparable to our in person students: the tutors, the online environment, and the materials. The TutorsOur online tutors get all the same training on our materials and academic subjects, and most work primarily in person. We use vid eo chat to get closer to the experience of tutoring; students can see and hear their tutors, and vice versa. This allows the tutors to pick up on the non-verbal cues that are important to tutoring. Additionally, our tutors all get specific training in using the online platform so that they can create the best possible experience for students. The Online EnvironmentWe primarily use a program called Conceptboard for our tutoring. This combines video chat with a large and multifunction virtual whiteboard. The whiteboard includes tools to allow tutors to type formulas, draw diagrams, upload images, and instantly draw common geometric shapes. Unlike a regular whiteboard, the online one persists between sessions, so students can always go back and look over the notes from the session; additionally, tutors are able to use the same whiteboard between sessions to more easily review and build on previous material.  For English and other writing projects, tutors often also utilize Google Docs and Google Chat, allowing them to look at documents at the same time as their students, both video chatting and leaving comments and making suggestions directly on the document. The Materials AJ Tutoring has fantastic materials for all of our test preparation programs. Students doing test preparation online with us are mailed physical copies of all those materials, so they have the same paper copies as in-person students. Additionally, the tutors upload pdfs of all the relevant materials, allowing them to annotate the documents like they would in an in office session, and leave the annotated documents online for the student to access later.  By re-creating these three elements as closely as possible, AJ Tutoring strives to make online tutoring comparable to our in-person tutoring.  Indeed, some aspects of online tutoring, such as the ability to revisit boards or record sessions at the students’ request, go above and beyond what is possible in a non-digital session.  How is AJâ €™s Online Tutoring Different than other Companies? AJ Tutoring is always looking to differentiate itself by the quality of the service we provide, by hiring the best educators we can, and by giving them ample support to develop their skills. Online tutoring is no different: all of our tutors are either also in-person tutors, or have years of experience tutoring in-person before they start tutoring online.  Since there are unique challenges to tutoring online, we think this experience in one-on-one education in-person is important; an experienced one-on-one educator is better prepared to take on the additional challenges of online tutoring when the content and student interaction is already second-nature to them. Additionally, our supportive structure for tutors makes a difference: all of our online tutors have a team leader who helps them develop their instructional skills. Our academic tutors also belong to academic departments that meet regularly to ensure that all the tutors fo r each subject are staying current on their content knowledge and on specific course material.  Finally, I personally also am available to give tutors tips on how to use our online platform to the greatest effect. These multiple layers of support allow our already fantastic tutors to truly excel at online tutoring and ensure that the quality of service we provide matches the service we are famous for in our offices. If you’d like to get your student support, please give us a call today!

MyGuru Announces New Summer Small Group Tutoring Program for Grades 1-3

MyGuru Announces New Summer Small Group Tutoring Program for Grades 1-3 Improving Academic Performance Driven by direct demand from Ogden Elementary school parents, MyGuru is proud to announce a summer tutoring program for grades 1-3 in the near north area of Chicago. Although MyGuru typically begins working with students at the high school level (and then continues on through college and beyond, helping with all standardized tests along the way), we have a variety of highly qualified tutors who are educated, trained, and certified to work with much younger students as well. So, when we were contacted about developing a small group tutoring program for students in grades 1-3, we reached out to a few of our tutors, and they showed enthusiastic interest in taking part in the program. All lesson plans will engage students through a variety of learning styles, and provide multiple options for tracking their progress. The curriculum is based on the needs of each student, including students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The two teachers, Sara Howes (M.A. Teaching, Special Education Teacher and ACT Tutor at Northwestern Education Center) and Katie Cardella (M.A. Teaching, with experience in grades 1-3) will meet with parents, by appointment, at regular intervals during the program. The first six students to commit to the program will be guaranteed spots. If we get more interest, we will maintain a waiting list, an additional class will be scheduled, or the class expanded with additional teacher time to keep the 1:6 teacher/student ratio. The registration deadline is May 18. To learn more about the program, including how to sign up, click on the link below. Instructor Spotlight Rudi Hwang

Instructor Spotlight Rudi Hwang Instructor Spotlight: Rudi Hwang Rudi Hwang, Instructor of Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Toronto Chinatown Meet Rudi, Instructor of Kumon of Toronto-Chinatown. He’s been an Instructor for five years, but his journey began long before that. Rudi is the son of veteran Kumon Instructorâ€"Betty Hwangâ€"who is celebrating her 26th anniversary with Kumon this year! He was actually a Kumon Student as a childâ€"completing the entire Kumon Math Program. He later went on to work for his mother at her Centre for 10 years before she handed over Kumon of Toronto-Chinatown to him. It’s safe to say that Rudi’s roots with Kumon are deep. In the first five minutes of talking to him, you’ll hear his passion and deep conviction of everything that Kumon stands for. One of the things that he’s most passionate about is at the core of the Kumon Methodâ€"self-learning. We met up with Rudi and asked him to share his thoughts. What inspired you to become a Kumon Instructor? I really believe in the benefits of Kumon. As an Instructor, I can see the dramatic effects that proper instruction can have on children. They develop confidence, become true self-learners, experience success in school and potentially change the trajectory of their lives. It is a very rewarding career. Does the fact that you were once a Kumon Student help you relate to your students? Definitely.   I know what it feels like and I have experienced the benefits of the Kumon program for myself.   This program is excellent, I really believe it. What is it about being an Instructor that you enjoy the most? The process of it. There is a beginning when the families come in. There is the work to get them to understand, take a leap of faith and commit to this long-term routine. You are asking them to trust you with their time, effort and moneyâ€"even if they may be skeptical at first. Once they commit, there are the ups and downs along the way. An opportunity to start building trust with each individual family. Then, when the big success comesâ€"getting good grades, studying advanced material on their ownâ€"that’s the payoff. You’ve earned their trust. That feels good. What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as a Kumon Instructor? Always look out for the best interests of your families, and be honest with what you can and can’t do for them. That’s how you build trust and long-term success. What is a fun fact about you that people may not know? I collect Toronto Raptors bobbleheads and vintage tennis shoes.   I have a lot. What do you like to do in your spare time? I play tennis a few times a week. Learn more about the Kumon Franchise opportunity and discover  additional franchisee success stories. Rabat American School

Rabat American School Rabat American School GOVERNANCE AND HISTORY The Rabat American School American School Association. the Association.is a private, nonprofit institution operated by the Rabat All parents who send their children to RAS are members ofThe Rabat American School was founded in 1962 as a K-8 school to meet the educational needs of the children of Americans affiliated with United States government agencies or private companies. The school originally functioned in a villa located near the U.S. Embassy. In 1969, the school moved to its present Agdal site. The original buildings were erected during the tenure of Henry Tasca, United States Ambassador to Morocco, who offered his enthusiastic support to the improvement of the school facilities and the creation of an attractive campus. In January 2019 RAS moved from its Agdal campus to its present location on the Rabat corniche. We are now located roughly ten minutes to the south of the center of Rabat. The school now owns both the land and the purpose-built facilities which include four classroom buildings, an auditorium, a learning commons, a cafeteria and a sports center that includes a gym, indoor swimming pool, weight room and aerobics room. Over the years the school continued to grow and, although the majority of students continued to come from the resident American community, the enrollment began to reflect the growing interest of the international community in Rabat. Today, the Rabat American School offers a strong college preparatory program from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Students may choose to pursue an American-style high school diploma or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. RAS offers a good student-to-teacher ratio, a multi-cultural mix of students, a commitment to standards-based curriculum and purpose-built facilities. A well-trained and committed professional staff join the Board of Trustees and community to provide the best education possible for our children. How to End Your Summer Internship on a Good Note

How to End Your Summer Internship on a Good Note Image via Isorepublic.com Good things to do before you leave your summer internship Here are a few things you should do before the last day of your summer internship to help you finish off on a good note. Let’s discuss some of those things! Set up a meeting with your supervisor Before you finish your summer internship, it is extremely important that you meet with your supervisor. In fact, you should schedule a quick meeting with them to touch base and to tie up any loose ends before you leave. This meeting is a good opportunity to leave your supervisor on a good note. During this meeting, let them know what you have accomplished throughout your time at the company. Of course, don’t brag while you do this. Let them know the state of your project, and what the next steps will be (in other words, what tasks will your successor be responsible for?). You could also ask your supervisor to evaluate your job performance. It’s a good idea to ask them if there is anything you can improve in. You can keep their answer in mind when you prepare for your next internship or job. For example, your supervisor might tell you that you need to pay more attention to detail. With this information, you now know to pay attention to detail in your next internship. Further, if you have any questions about their industry, or the next steps you should take to prepare for a successful career in their industry, now is the time to ask them questions. You will regret leaving their office with questions unanswered! If you meet with your supervisor before you leave, you will be able to tie up many loose ends and finish your internship on a good note. Ask your supervisor for a letter of recommendation Another question you can ask during your meeting with your supervisor is if they are willing to write you a letter of recommendation. This is especially important if you will be applying to graduate school, medical school, or jobs within the next year. Nowadays, hiring managers and admissions committees are putting more emphasis on letters of recommendation, so it is imperative that your letters are outstanding. If your supervisor has seen you work hard, they could be a great candidate to write you a strong letter for these applications, because they can attest to your strong work ethic. Even if you won’t be applying anywhere for another year or two, it still won’t hurt to ask! When it comes time for you to apply to these positions, you’ll be relieved that you already have at least one person who will write you a letter. Asking your supervisor for a letter of recommendation is a great thing to do before finishing your summer internship. Touch base with your co-workers Similarly, you should touch base with your co-workers before you leave your summer internship. Just as you did with your supervisor, you should let your co-workers know what’s happening with your project. More specifically, tell them about what you have done so far and what needs to be done next in regard to your project. Of course, if you’ve become good friends with them, you could go out to lunch one last time and talk about non-work stuff. You can exchange numbers and social media handles if you haven’t already, as keeping in touch with them is very important! You can even start discussing who will pick up your work where you left off (in other words, your successor). This brings me to my next point… Infographic by Alyssa Laffitte Offer to train your successor If you were involved in a big project during your summer internship, the company will likely want to continue this project. However, you won’t be there to continue it. This means someone else will have to take over your project. Before you leave, you could offer to help choose your successor. This way, you can help choose someone who can gracefully pick up where you left off. You can suggest a co-worker that you know is capable of doing what you did. If your successor has already been chosen, you can also offer to train them. You should tell this person what you have been doing, and what they will be expected to do once you are gone. This will make their new responsibilities much less overwhelming for them, since they will already know what to expect. At the very least, write up a quick report to detail what you’ve been doing for your project and what your successor will need to do to keep it going. Before you leave your summer internship, try to have a successor in place to take over your project, and you can even offer to train them. Complete any remaining work Your project might still have some loose ends that you need to tie up before you leave. For example, have you finished all your reports? Are there a few documents left for you to review? Take advantage of your last few days at your summer internship to make sure these final things get done. Your supervisor will not be happy if you leave some work unfinished, so try your best to tie up those loose ends and get everything done before you leave on your last day. This is important if you want to leave your internship on a good note. Turn in any paperwork Of course, this will vary from workplace to workplace. But before you leave, make sure you don’t have to turn in any extra paperwork. In some workplaces, you might need to submit a formal letter or report before you leave. (Personally, for my summer internship, I needed to finalize a few documents before I left. It would have been bad to leave without doing this!) In other words, turning in any final, remaining paperwork will help you finish your summer internship on a good note. Clean up your workspace A clean workspace is a good fresh start for your successor. For that reason, it is common courtesy to leave your workspace neat and tidy when you finish your internship. Before you finish your summer internship, please take a few minutes to clean up your workspace. Throw away any water bottles you might have left on your desk. Tidy up the organizational spaces. Put things back where they belong. This will make it easier for the next person to move into your office once you leave your summer internship. Good things to do once you have finished your internship Even after the last day of your summer internship, there are still a few things you should do before the school year starts to help you get the most from your internship experience. Let’s discuss some of those things! Send a thank-you note This may seem like an old-fashioned thing to do, but sending a thank-you note to the people from your summer internship is a great way to wrap up your internship. Thank-you notes are a wonderful sign of appreciation and respect (Bonus points if you hand write an actual card!). Once you finish your internship, handwrite a card and send it to your old workplace. Your supervisor and co-workers will be very touched to receive it! (And they will definitely remember your short note when it’s time for them to write you a recommendation letter!) Sending a thank-you card to your supervisor and even your co-workers at your internship is a fantastic way to end your internship. Update your resume and your LinkedIn profile Unfortunately, many college students don’t touch their resumes or their LinkedIn profiles until it’s time for them to look for a job or an internship. This is a bad habit that you should not fall into! Instead, get into the habit of updating your resume and your LinkedIn profile often. If you update your resume and your LinkedIn often, you will not have to scramble to update them the night before an application is due (which will make you more likely to leave out something important!). Try to update these documents whenever something important happens. Your resume and your LinkedIn will always be up to date if you do this! For example, update them when you join a new student organization. Update them when you finish an internship. Update them when you graduate. Update them when you receive a new honor. These things are important, and will make your application stand out. (Another advantage of updating your LinkedIn right after you finish your internship is that you can ask to “ connect” with your co-workers from your internship!) Once you finish your summer internship, update your resume and your LinkedIn profile! Reflect on your internship experience Now that you’ve finished your internship, take a few minutes to think about your experience. What did you like about it? What did you not like? Could you see yourself working full time in that kind of career? Is there something you would have done differently? Reflecting on these questions, and your answers to them, can help guide you as you prepare for your career. If you realize you didn’t like your internship, now is the time to realize it and to correct your course to help you prepare for a career you WILL enjoy. The wonderful thing about internships is that they give you the experience of a job you might want to have in the future. You will have a much better idea of what a career in your dream field is like after an internship. In other words, an internship gives you the opportunity to “test drive” a certain job, because as an intern, you are working as if you have the job. Because of this experience, you might realize you don’t like the job you have been dreaming about. Next year, you can choose a different type of internship, until you find something you truly love. On the other hand, you might realize you love the job after interning for a few weeks in the field. It will make you more confident about your career path. That’s the whole purpose of an internship, to help you discover what you love! When you take the time to reflect on your internship, you will get to know yourself and your professional goals better. Image via Isorepublic.com Stay in touch with the people from your internship Have you ever heard the phrase, “Don’t burn bridges”? This phrase tells us to not cut ourselves off from our old friends, school, workplace, or supervisor. I recommend you don’t “burn the bridge” you built during your summer internship. Keep in touch with your supervisor and with your co-workers. Make sure you have your supervisor’s email address and phone number. Keeping in touch with them doesn’t have to be awkward. Send them a quick email when something important happens in your life. Write them a congratulatory note if they get a promotion. Visit them if you are ever in the area. These things will help you stay in touch with the people you met this summer. You never know if someone there will be a helpful connection for you, or if you will be a helpful connection to them! For this reason, it’s important to stay in touch with the people you met during your summer internship. Summer internships are great ways to expand your skill set and to spend your summer productively. They are awesome networking and learning opportunities. But now that your summer internship is coming to an end, consider my tips to help you finish off your summer internship on a good note.

Understanding How to Train a Dog to Sit, Stay and Listen

Understanding How to Train a Dog to Sit, Stay and ListenOne of the most useful methods to understand how to train a dog to sit, stay and listen is to use a Kumon tutor. You can find this kind of training a lot of places, including your local pet store. As you are looking around you will probably notice many different things about these tutors, but now you need to be sure that you have all the information before you get one.To begin with, you must find out the exact difference between a Kumon dog and any other kind of dog. Some people use terms like class and breed, but those don't really matter. Class and breed are only for dog owners who own one specific type of dog. You are looking for a different kind of dog that you can actually train. In this case you will need to find a trainer who specializes in training in a specific manner.A Kumon trainer can help you get a dog who learns to learn right away. They will allow you to train your dog right in the comfort of your own home, which makes them great to use at first. They will start off by teaching the dog what you want it to do, and then they will teach it other things such as socialization. The trainers will teach you the basic manners as well as train your dog from inside the house. Some trainers will simply walk your dog outside to start the training while others will actually put on a class or a training session before your pet leaves the house. If you want to make sure that your pet is going to learn how to behave properly when you have it, then a trainer is something that you should consider getting. You can find trainers in your local area by asking the neighbors if they know of anyone that teaches dogs.If you do decide to go with a class or training before your pet leaves the house, you must ask the trainer to start the training immediately. This is to give your pet the maximum opportunity to learn. When you put your pet on a long leash and let it wander around outside all day, it is going to need time t o learn how to behave around you. You want to make sure that you train your pet to be sociable and to sit when you are around. The training session will also let you know the right way to use your training tools and you will know that it is going to help the dog understand what you want it to do.Some trainers, on the other hand, use a Kumon trainer to help teach your dog to control his energy when it is not going properly when you use the leash. If you use this training system, it will teach your dog to behave in a proper manner and to stay in one spot or another. There are trainers who will come to your home and take your dog for a run around the block in their specially-equipped vans so that they can give them a lot of exercise, which can help them control their energy. It is not too difficult to choose the right trainer for your needs, so choose a trainer who is used to working with Kumon animals. Make sure that they offer good training techniques and you will be doing your best t o train your dog with them.
